The LGBT Sandbox – We Are Back!!!

Thank You New Owners

A short time ago, as many of you are aware, the GA Sandbox almost closed. At the last minute, a group of buyers stepped up and saved the Sandbox. Alan Bolero, Garth Raleigh and Othon Weiland are the new owners of Sandbox, with the Sandbox Team remaining intact. I know that every Sandbox user is grateful to them for saving the Sandbox; it would have been a sad loss for the Gay Archipelago (GA) if it had closed.

Since then, traffic number have returned to normal ranges, with over 12,000 in traffic count today and the number of visitors remains the same between 650-750 visitors per day.

Donations will be very important to keeping the Sandbox going, so if you are able, please make a donation. Even if it was 30L, if all our visitors did that, the Sandbox would be self-maintaining.

Changes

The public area of the Sandbox has been re-parcelled so there are now just over 2,000 prims available – giving more space to our public users.

Another change that will be taking place in the near future is the private area (which is currently available to everyone) will become a true private area, dedicated to people who are creating longer term projects. There will be an application process and a minimum age before you will be granted group access. We will provide lots of notice to users at the Sandbox.

Teachers

We also need teachers for Sandbox classes in all areas of building and scripting in SL. Most of the building classes we hold are for intermediate and advanced users. Scripting we need help at all levels.

If you feel you have the time, the skill and are interested in become a GA Sandbox teacher, please contact Alum Dagger.

Sandbox Team

We are looking for new members of the Sandbox Team. You must be at least 180 days old to apply, fill in an application and take two tests to help us judge what you know or don’t know about looking after a Sandbox. We are all volunteers, and we work very closely with each other, so fitting in with the team is also important as well as being able to help people at the Sandbox, and you will be expected to spend time physically at the Sandbox.

If this interests you, again please contact Alum Dagger.

A Final Note

A big thank you to the Flag Factory for providing all the flags at the Sandbox, if you see your country missing let me know. But again Frenchy and Fab thank you for your ongoing support, it is so appreciated.

Alum Dagger

Limo to the LGBT Sandbox
