What types of events in the GA ?
- 1 – Regular Events :
Clubbing parties – concerts – shows – exhibitions,…
- 2 – Major/Special Events :
Estates : Grand openings (Sim, Club, Mall, new venue…) – anniversaries – special events dedicated to the LGBT community – Festivals – special happenings – Merchants Fair…
- 3 – Wide Events :
Whole GA : Themed events (Arts & culture Weekend, St Valentine, St Patrick, Easter, Halloween…) – wide Festivals (Winterfest, Summerfest) under which GA sims have their events hightlighted.
NB. Under Wide Events, innovative happenings are most welcome : such as creative scenographies all over a sim, shows, races, parades, games, creation/builders contests, fireworks, operas, etc…
How to use of the GA groups ?
These following groups can be used under special conditions :
-1- The Gay Archipelago, main group
Due to the diversity of the membership, only one or two announcements a week are made to promote the GA, welcome new sims, and to spread major news for the community within SL.
This group cannot be used for single events – except to promote Wide events programs – including several events.
These announcements are made by GA Team board members.
-2- GA Events info group
This group is dedicated to Events within the GA – GA area only – by GA members : Estate owners, managers, merchants, residents.
NB. Due to the important number of notices, please post only ONE notice per event. Thanks for your attention.
The notifiers are encouraged to insert weblinks for further details.
-3- GA Estates & officers group (restricted access)
This group is dedicated to GA managers : GA team facilitators, Estates owners, officers, Festivals Committee members and merchants under Wide Events.
This group spreads internal news about GA’s projects, achievements, agreements with linden Lab, and new sims arrivals.
It can be used as well by estates owners for “tips & tricks” – to help each others.
-4- GA Sandbox classes
This group provides information about sandbox and builders classes by the sandbox team.
-5- Two other groups :
GA Arts & Culture info group, by Owl Braveheart
GA Merchants, by Hubs Howlett.
Please contact their managers to join them.
NB. These groups membership weight are due to constant care efforts. Feel free to invite your friends to join them.
What is the GA Team ?
Also called the “Council”, the GA Team is the organization of volunteers and facilitators dedicated to the GA as a whole. Everyone is welcome to join it to support the archipelago.
To keep the GA climate friendly, the GA team is a place for concrete achievements and inputs. Here active roles and selfless state of mind = “What can I do to help my neighbor to promote his assets?”
The focus and the recognition are on contributors : volunteers, projects managers, facilitators, sponsors.
The GA team tasks are dedicated to the growth of the GA, to launch new devices that can benefit to the community, to bring new achievements to make it the more relevant and vibrant it can be, and to support the GA estate owners efforts.
For the GA Estate owners, the philosophy of the GA is a “two ways road approach”.
Eg. Use the GA Events info group – and invite friends to join it
Eg. Benefit from the GA promotion – and display a GA donations kiosk
etc.
The assistance provided by the GA Team aims at strengthen the GA estates, not to… weaken them. The assistance has to be considered as an additional support provided by volunteers, not as a main support. The GA Estates have still to be pro-active to promote, by themselves, their place, find tenants, merchants, negotiate partnerships, be featured by Linden Lab, etc. The GA promotional tools (GA WeBlogs, GA Events info group) are at their disposal. Each estate is most welcome to be the more successful as it wishes, as it benefits to everyone within the GA area.
Where go the donations to the GA ?
The Gay Archipelago sim has a donations kiosk.
The funds raised go, by priority, to :
- Pride sim / LGBT Gateway (which contributes to mentor newcomers and makes the community working together)
- B&V Entreprises (which hosts the GA HQ and the LGBT Agora center)
- LGBT Sandbox
- GA WeBlogs
- GA sim
- Support to LGBT achievements within the GA (exhibits, happenings, campaigns, etc.)
- Wide events expenses
NB. Donations kiosks can be found at Pride sim, at the sandbox and on GA WeBlogs to support specifically these causes.

What is the GA’s Concept ?
The GA is first of all a geographical concept. Sharing the same area on the grid with friends around vs. be isolated on the grid with unknown neighbors. It brings a community and a ‘family’ feeling and offers exciting opportunities.
This has been possible, step by step, with two values implemented in concrete achievements : generosity and friendship.
The concept and the way it has been led are resumed in the two GA’s mottos today :
