Commitment in North Carolina

gay marriage proponents in North Carolina

The people of North Carolina will soon be voting on an anti-gay marriage law. Known as Amendment 1, the law would define marriage for the state as being between a man and a woman. The election is set for May 8.

Many people have been outraged at this attempt toward legal marriage discrimination, including photographers Justin Cook and Lissa Gotwals. They have joined forces, along with Maria Brubeck, Kim Walker, Jessie Gladin-Kramer, Alex Maness, Jon Gardiner, and Joanna Welborn to interview and photograph the families who will be impacted, should the amendment become law. Their body of work is now showcased on the website “Commitment | NC”.

I encourage you to view the photos, read the essays, and contribute financially to the cause of keeping North Carolina free of marriage discrimination.
